Préstamos en la prensa colombiana: 1913 y 2013

Abstract

Esta tesina es un estudio sobre préstamo en el periódico colombiano El Tiempo en los años 1913 y 2013. Los objetivos principales de este trabajo fueron encontrar si existe un cambio en el predominio de préstamos de un idioma específico y cuáles son las causas de este cambio. También, determinar el campo semántico de los préstamos encontrados. El corpus se conformó a partir de 48 ejemplares del periódico El Tiempo, 24 correspondientes a 1913 y 24 al año 2013. Se encontraron un total de 600 préstamos, 152 en la sección correspondiente al año 1913 y 448 a la sección correspondiente a 2013. Los préstamos identificados en la sección correspondiente a 1913 fueron en galicismos y en segundo lugar anglicismos. Por otro lado, los préstamos identificados en la sección del corpus correspondiente a 2013 fueron en su gran mayoría anglicismos. El cambio en el predominio de préstamos ha variado durante los últimos siglos debido a causas históricas, económicas y políticas. El poder y la influencia de Francia en España e Hispanoamérica durante los siglos XVIII y XIX y el cambio de este poder hacia Estados Unidos después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Respecto al campo semántico de los préstamos encontrados, el campo Guerra y política fue en el que más se encontraron préstamos en ambas secciones del corpus. Hubo un gran incremento en los campos semánticos Deporte, Tecnología e inventos y Comida y bebida en 2013 respecto a 1913.

This thesis is a study about lexical loanwords in the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo in the years 1913 and 2013. The main goals of this study were to find out if there was a change on the predominance of borrowings from a specific origin during the different centuries, and what the causes of that change were. As well as determine the semantic field of these lexical loanwords. The corpus was made from 48 copies of the newspaper El Tiempo, 24 corresponding to 1913 and 24 to 2013. There were found a total of 600 lexical borrowings. 152 in the section corresponding to 1913 and 448 in the section corresponding to 2013. The loanwords identified in the section corresponding to 1913 were mainly from French in first place and English in second one. On the other hand, the loanwords identified in the section corresponding to 2013 were in a vast majority from English. The change in the predominance of the origin of the loanwords has varied during the last centuries due to historical, economic and political causes. The power and influence of France in Spain and Hispanic America during the XVIII and XIX centuries and the change after the Second World War of this power and influence to United States. Regarding to the semantic fields, War and politics is the most numerous field in both sections of the corpus. There is a big increment in the semantic fields Sports, Technology and inventions, and Food and beverage, from 1913 to 2013.
