Skolebibliotekene blir analysert og drøftet ved hjelp av artikler i boka Teacher and Librarian Parnetships in literacy Education in the 21st Century.
The main objective of this thesis is to examine whether school efforts regarding reading is visible in the school libraries. I will primarily look at this at a school level, but will also touch upon the municipal and national levels. To investigate this, I have interviewed five school librarians to examine how they work, what education they have, how they are integrated into the teacher collegiate, how much maneuverability they have both in practical and economical terms, and what kind of support they think they have from the school’s management. In addition, I have been provided with lending statistics from the National Library to compare lending figures from the individual schools with a calculated average for the entire municipality. I have also been provided with lending information for a comparable municipality to check if the findings are consistent. In order to examine whether the school’s reading efforts are visible in the school library, it is important to look at what reading really is. I have mainly based my view on reading on Louise Rosenblatt's view of reading as exploration, and Wolfgang Iser's view of reading as a dialogue between reader and text. In light of the current curriculum, LK06, I have also examined the term literacy, and particularly Marte Blikstad-Balas' research in this field. In the Directorate's guidance documents, such as the Stortingsmelding 28 and the framework factors for reading as a general skill, we see a turning away from the view of reading as a discovery and towards considering reading as something we do for benefit. In order for the school not to lose the reading as exploration entirely to functional reading, a new type of literacy is argued for, one that is called aesthetic literacy. In this thesis I argue for a new type of literacy, aesthetic literacy. The objective is to promote the view of reading as exploration, as opposed to the idea of reading as functional. The school libraries are analyzed and discussed with the support of articles in the book Teacher and Librarian Partnerships in Literacy Education in the 21st Century. Evaluation of School Library Development Program 2009-2013 provides a basis for saying something about the state of school libraries and is used to substantiate the findings of the survey. Figures from the primary school reporting system (GSI) provide information about the resources used in the school library. The findings show that there is a great deal of variation between schools regarding whether they prioritize school libraries and see this in light of a focus on reading. In general, there appears to be a decrease in resources for school libraries. Through the analysis of the various school libraries we look at what characterizes a good school library and how this can be integrated into the school's educational work.en_US
