dc.description.abstractIn July 2016, Saudi Arabian women launched the campaign «I am my own Guardian». The main platform of the campaign was at the webpage Twitter.com with the hashtag #IAmMyOwnGuardian. The intention was to put an ending to guardian system in Saudi Arabia. Rapidly the campaign attracted attention and elevated from social media to cover in press and mass media. This thesis presents the campaign, with core focus on its root on Twitter and the surrounding debates. This thesis dwells in the controversy and discuss what the women are demonstrating against, alongside which challenges and obstacles they are confronted with. To provide a larger image of the progress of the campaign, as well as its effect, this research presents the campaign in the gaze of the press and mass media, on both national and international level.en_US
