Mental health and well-being are important aspect of public health and health promotion. Over the past few years, adolescents have increasingly reported that they are experiencing psychological strain and stress-related symptoms. The field of mental health promotion is focusing on the positive aspects of mental health, as a focus on the negative factors can problematize reactions and feelings that are normal. In line with mental health, contribution or cooperation with youth is getting more attention. Our study is based on theory and methodology that focus on youth's strengths and resources, youth’s right to raise their opinion and the relational interaction between youth and their context. Therefore, this study is also politically and democratically grounded. This study took place in a medium-sized village in the western part of Norway, where photovoice was carried out with eight co-researchers aged 15-18. Within the predetermined framework, mental health and health promotion, the co-researchers formed the research question: What is it in the (school)day that can promote good mental health? The co-researchers took photographs to answer this, they conducted thematic network analysis with the photographs, and reflected on the findings. Transcribed audio recordings from the three group meetings were used to describe the process. The co-researchers identified different themes that could bright up their day: social, a break from stress, and sense of coping and coziness in everyday life. Even with a focus on the positive, the co-researchers' were frustrated concerning how these aspects were oppressed by stress.en_US
