Abstract
In this thesis I attempt to place the Book of Jubilees in its original context. I do this by the means of historical criticism, and compare texts from the second temple period. The thesis is divided into three parts, 1) an overview of various text corpuses (The Torah, 1.Enoch, and Jub), 2) where I compare narratives from the various traditions in order to understand the inter-textual relationships, 3) my discussion, using the two previous parts as foundation for placing the Book of Jubilees within the Mosaic tradition, and within the city of Jerusalem. I also offer a warning against uncareful use of categories ,and, argue that early Enochic literature might acctualy be part of the Mosaic tradition.
