dc.description.abstractThis master's thesis is about controlled drug release, which is a relatively new area of mathematical modelling. In this thesis there have been two major focuses. The first is to further understand the model for drug release from collagen matrices developed earlier by solving it with a different numerical scheme, and the second to develop a new model based on a different geometry. Both models are based on mass conservation and Fick's law, and are therefore possible to compare. The two models have been discretized and implemented, and the results compared to experimental data.en_US
