This master's thesis in music therapy is a study that explores music therapists' experiences of user involvement at different times in the therapeutic process and at different levels in the work context. This study is based on a variety and breadth among three music therapists with different institutional affiliation and practices. The study intends to explore how music therapists facilitate user- involvement on an individual level and on a system level. The study is based on theoretical perspectives such as personal recovery, resource-oriented music therapy, and other general theories of user involvement in mental health. Three individual interviews were conducted with the music therapists, where the findings show a breadth in experience of user involvement at the individual level, and greater variation in experience with user involvement on the system level. The music therapists' experiences highlight how users are involved in allocation, therapy, evaluation, and what factors in the workplace that promote and inhibit user involvement.en_US
