Kvinner, fengsel og musikkterapi: En kvalitativ studie av musikkterapiens rolle for kvinnelige innsatte i norske fengsler
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to explore how music therapy can impact female prisoners’ conditions of imprisonment, and to see if the conditions of imprisonment creates obstacles for the implementation and participation in music therapy. Data has been collected through a hermeneutic approach, by conducting interviews with music therapists who work with prisoners. The findings suggest that music therapy can impact the female prisoners in a positive way, by helping them get a voice and platform, nurture social relations, empower the women, and provide access to and strengthen their resources. The findings also suggest that there’s a difference in the conditions of imprisonment for women and men, which also impacts the music therapy.
