«Funksjonsvariasjonar er éin ting, men dei er jo først og fremst barn!» Ein refleksiv evaluerings- og implementeringsstudie av musikkterapi si rolle i ein tverrfagleg intensiv habiliteringsprosess for barn med multifunksjonsvariasjonar

Abstract

Masteroppgåva undersøker kva for ei rolle musikkterapi kan ha for barn med multifunksjonsvariasjonar på intensiv habilitering (IH) på eit sjukehus. Både individuell og gruppebasert musikkterapi har blitt tilbydt og gjennomført. Kort skildra tek oppgåva føre seg problemstillingar om implementering og evaluering med mål om å samle kunnskap kring kva for ei rolle musikkterapi kan ha, samt korleis det kan bli inkludert i eit tverrfagleg team på IH. Studien nyttar eit kvalitativt design der fire foreldre med barn som er på musikkterapi på IH, deltek som informantar. Foreldra deler sine erfaringar frå opphalda, både med og utan tilbod om musikkterapi. I tillegg til semistrukturert intervju med foreldra, er forskarlogg nytta i innsamling av data og i refleksiv tematisk analyse. Funna syner at musikkterapien kan opne eit frirom for leik, som igjen kan føre til auka motivasjon eller opnar for utforsking og deltaking. Disability studies, kommunikativ musikalitet og psykososialt perspektiv vert presentert og dannar grunnlag for vidare drøfting av funna. På bakgrunn av funn og teori kan oppgåva konkludere med at musikk i alle fall ikkje pregar opphaldet deira negativt. Studien fremjer viktigheita og relevansen av musikk og leik i barn si utvikling og som ein del av eit tverrfagleg team på IH.

This master’s thesis examines music therapy with children with multifunctional variations in the context of intensive habilitation (IH) at a hospital. Both individual and group-based sessions have been offered and conducted. Overall, the thesis addresses issues of implementation and evaluation and aims to gain more knowledge about how music therapy can be conducted and integrated in the interdisciplinary concept of IH. The research applies a quantitative interview-design including four parents of children having attended music therapy. The parents share their experiences about participating in IH, both with and without music therapy being a part of it. Next to data material from semi-structured interview with the parents, the researcher’s log is included in data-collection and reflexive thematic analysis. The findings indicate that music therapy can create a space for play, which in turn can lead to increased motivation and interest in the children, facilitation exploration and participation. Disability studies, communicative musicality and a psychosocial perspective inform the discussion of the findings. In conclusion, the music was not a negative part of the participates experience. The master’s thesis highlights the importance and relevance of music and play for children’s development and as part of interdisciplinary IH.
