Abstract
This thesis explores knowledge sharing between younger and older employees in a Norwegian engineering organisation facing an aging workforce. Using a sequential mixed-methods approach, it investigates preferences to knowledge transfer. Interviews reveal that senior employees possess valuable tacit knowledge, while younger employees prefer informal tools. Survey results confirm these trends and highlight issues like time constraints and inadequate formal systems.
Key findings suggest younger employees favor digital methods, while older employees lean towards formal documentation and mentorship. The thesis recommends strategies such as formal mentorship programs, improved digital knowledge systems, continuous learning promotion, and better documentation practices to enhance knowledge transfer and bridge the generational gap.
