Cuentos (1880) de Eduarda Mansilla de García. La creación del lector infantil en Argentina.
Abstract
This master`s thesis contributes to the study of what is considered the first Argentinian children’s book, Cuentos (1880) by Eduarda Mansilla de García. I have used Mansilla`s prologue as my guiding framework to decipher how and why she wrote Cuentos, and how she contributed to the creation of the child reader. The analysis focuses on the prologue and only three tales from her collection of eight stories and one article, utilizing reader-response theory, informal education and fable theory to come to a conclusion.
