Sammendrag
The Near East is the backdrop to a multitude of firsts. In this dissertation I discuss the validity of referring to Near Eastern tokens as the first forms for accounting. Through a contextual analysis the micro and macro context of the token assemblage from 6 prehistoric sites are explored. The six sites from the dissertation include Jarmo, Tepe Guran, Hajji Firuz, Tell Abada, Tepe Gawra and Warka.
