Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is twofold: On the one hand, it represents an effort to rescue and value the life and poetic art of an almost unknown Venezuelan poetess, Hanni Ossott, whose work has not been, in general, included in general high-valued literature manuals, journals and other reputed accounts, except for a good number of excellent reviews domestically published. It is claimed here that the failure to acknowledge her contribution to the literary world, due, perhaps, to a lack of awareness of the deep and philosophically enlightening implications of her poetic vision, can be hardly justifiable. On the second hand, taking into account Hanni Ossott’s two well-known periods of artistic endeavor, in her domestic context, it is argued that the second one has not been given the necessary attention, and therefore, an important goal of this thesis is to bring to light, using mainly Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetic of Space (1957), Hanni Ossott’s ars poetica, in which the notions of “lived space”, “everydayness” and “image” are determining factors.
