Sammendrag
Objective: This thesis presents an evaluation of a learning model developed from personcentered values, built to learn carers to use musical tools to better challenging interactions with residents. The evaluations were based on the carers experiences by participating over a month period. Method: The learning model was used as a practical working-method, and focus groups as data collection method. Results: Person-centered care happens through the carers use of music, the tools give them energy and joy in their work, although time is a challenge. Music has multiple functions, by fostering emotions, memory, bodily improvement and inner processes in residents. It also makes a deeper connection between the carers and the residents. Conclusions: Carers use of music at their working-place is vulnerable for them, which points at the necessity of carers self-care. The learning model had benefits for the carers and residents, but didn’t succeed to be implemented at the institution. Further research is needed to develop adequate learning models that are possible to implement on long basis and different institutions.
