| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | This is a qualitative study that examines how mothers perceive their infants when they interact in music. The main question I wanted to answer during this study was, How do parents perceive that music influences the relation between them and their infants? and the sub-question was, What do they experience differently in musical interactions versus everyday interactions? To answer these questions I interviewed five mothers who had all participated with their infants in musical groups called Musikk fra livets begynnelse. Literature relevant to the topic of music therapy with caregivers and infants is presented, along with theory relevant to the findings of the interviews. The findings of the study show that all of the mothers experienced some sort of positive relation to their infants in the music. To what degree they felt that the music influenced them varied, and for some of them it was hard to put into words how they experienced it. They also stated that they felt they had a clearer connection with their infant when they interacted in music versus in everyday life. | en_US |
