This study takes place in the twin border cities of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico and Nogales, Arizona, U.S., where this study focuses on the attitudes of Mexicans and U.S. Americans about the current migration situation between Mexico and U.S. I will in this thesis present what the residents at the border of Mexico and U.S. think about the unsettled situation at the border, and how they think the migration and the migratory policies have changed from the presidency of Barack Obama to the presidency of Donald Trump. And thereby seek to understand what they may think about Donald Trumps wish on making a 9-meter-high wall and what they think about the latest changes implemented by his administration. In this thesis I will focus on the historical, political and social dimensions of border sones, and the securitization, militarization, multilevel governance of migration, and the recent intensity of human and drug and smuggling are all factors that trigger migration, and creating unbearable conditions for migrants. I will examine how the immigration politics and the waves of emigration have resulted in one of the biggest immigrant groups in the United States, and how this have affected the current immigration situation. I will use Nogales, Sonora and Nogales, Arizona as a lens to understand the social effects of historical and present-day process of a new president in the United States for the people who live in the borderlands between Mexico and the United States. Thereby, the purpose of this thesis is to gain a greater knowledge about how people on the border of Mexico and the United States think about the migration that occurs between the border and about the latest changes implemented by the new president of the United States, Donald Trump.en_US
