Abstract
This thesis covers the possibility of passing a so-called “adequacy decision” on China in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Article 45. This is done by conducting an assessment based on the evident legal criteria and the current Chinese data protection framework. This adequacy assessment consist of a comparison of some core GDPR elements and the Chinese framework and a look at some supplementary elements to put emphasis on in accordance with relevant case law and procedure.
