This thesis revolves around the importance of life for the genesis and possibilities of thought in Gilles Deleuzes philosophy. His philosophy is a postulate of the necessity of philosophy and thought to follow the becoming of life and to create the new. What are the creative capabilities of thought that he lays out? How does thought emerge from the meeting of thought and life? The thesis follows the development of the problem as an important figure of thought in Deleuzes philosophy, and questions the emergence of the problem from life and the articulation of the problem in thought. The first chapter focuses on Deleuzes reading of Henri Bergson in the early phase of his writing, and looks at some of the problems that are developed and brought further from these texts. Here Deleuzes finds the ontological foundations of thought, which makes thought immanent to the movement of life. In our second chapter we will see how these problems are developed further in Difference and Repetition, one of Deleuzes main works, and look into his critique of philosophy and his foundation of a new way of thinking. Here thought is engendered in the chaotic and obscure meeting with life. Here we will look into what this meeting means for the articulation of thought. In our third chapter we will examine this meeting further, and look at how problems are developed, We will look into the concrete materiality of thought and examine how thought is developed in a meeting with the multiplicity and singularity of life. Finally we will discuss the concept, as it appears in What is Philosophy?, and discuss Deleuzes philosophical position. The thesis wishes to articulate how one can understand the possibilities of thought in the philosophy of Deleuze.en_US
