Sammendrag
After many years of research, the condition Induced Laryngeal Obstruction (ILO) recently became an official diagnose. However, a lot is yet to be explored regarding the condition and its role in the respiratory system [1]. A Continuous Laryngeal Exercise (CLE) test is performed in order to be able to diagnose, research and determine treatment for ILO. Bergen ILO Group's current research process for studying cardiopulmonary data and video material collected from CLE tests involves a lot of time consuming, and possibly erroneous, manual data plotting and processing. There are even some areas of investigation that are possible to explore, but due to lack of resources, this is not carried out. Software engineering can create efficient and useful research tools for streamlining such a process. This thesis proposes a generalised software system that can be applied in both the research process of ILO, and those of other disciplines and institutions. The system provides organization and handling of time-based medical test data, statistical analysis and coordination of test data and video material. The development process and the resulting software system will be described, and contributions it potentially can bring to any research process that entails studying medical test data will be presented.
