Masteroppgave om undervisning i andre verdenskrig og en ny grunnfortelling?

Abstract

Denne oppgaven tar for seg hvordan undervisning om andre verdenskrig foregår i enkelte norske klasserom. Oppgaven er en kvalitativ studie som tar for seg fire ulike informanters syn på undervisning om andre verdenskrig gjennom hva de underviser om, hvorfor de underviser om det og hvordan de underviser. Oppgaven vil vurdere hvorvidt det finnes en nasjonal grunnfortelling om krigshistorien i norske klasserom og isåfall hva den innebærer. Den tradisjonelle, patriotiske, grunnfortellingen i Norge forteller om et lite land som overraskende ble angrepet av en brutal overmakt den 9. april 1940, og hvordan modige menn gjorde motstand mot overmakten, mens andre svek landet sitt og hjalp okkupantene. Senere har grunnfortellingen blitt revidert og moderert i retning av en mer mangfoldig grunnfortelling som har plass til langt flere fortellinger og nyanser. Oppgaven vil ta for seg om en form av denne grunnfortellingen reproduseres i skolen og hvordan det eventuelt kan påvirke undervisningen. Kapittel tre vil ta for seg hvordan undervisningen foregår ifølge informantene. Kapittel tre er delt inn etter informanter fra Nord-Norge og deretter informanter fra Sør-Norge. Kapittel fire vil ta for seg hva informantene tenker om undervisningen de gjennomfører og hva de mener er viktig med den. I lys av dette vil det vurderes om grunnfortellingen har noen forankring i klasserommene og undervisningen. Avslutningsvis vil oppgaven ta for seg hvordan lærere fra Nord-Norge har et annerledes syn på krigshistorien fra Nord-Norge enn lærere fra Sør-Norge.

This thesis deals with how teaching about World War II takes place in some Norwegian classrooms. The thesis is a qualitative study that addresses four different informants' views on teaching about World War II through what they teach about, why they teach about it and how they teach. The thesis will assess whether there is a national master narrative about the war history in Norwegian classrooms and if so, what it entails. The traditional, patriotic, master narrative in Norway tells of a small country that was surprisingly attacked by a brutal force on April 9, 1940, and how brave men resisted the force, while others betrayed their country and helped the occupiers. Later, the master narrative has been revised and moderated in the direction of a more diverse master narrative that has room for far more narratives and nuances. The thesis will address whether a form of this master narrative is reproduced in school and how it may affect the teaching. Chapter three will deal with how the teaching takes place according to the informants. Chapter three is divided into subchapters considering informants from northern Norway and then informants from southern Norway. Chapter four will address what the informants think about the teaching they carry out and what they think is important about it. In light of this, it will be assessed whether the master narrative has any anchoring in the classrooms and the teaching. Finally, the thesis will address how teachers from northern Norway have a different view of war history from northern Norway than teachers from southern Norway.
