Sammendrag
Members of the Norwegian psychology association were invited to participate in a two days sleep education workshop. All participants were invited to fill out a web-based survey measuring their knowledge of sleep, self-efficacy to use common sleep-related assessment instrument and empirically supported interventions to manage sleep, and confidence to managed sleep disorders in clinical practice, before and after the workshop. The survey was conducted with the use of a Norwegian version of Graduate Psychology Students' Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practice scale (GradPsyKAPS). The modified version consists of 77 items. 35 of the items was a multiple-choice quiz on sleep knowledge where only one choice was correct. A total of 27 clinical psychologist were included in the current study. The mean score showed an increase in knowledge from 20.6 (SD = 4.9) to 28.7 (SD = 3.4). Similar results were shown for self-efficacy, were the mean score increased from 19.8 (SD 8.2) to 34.8 (SD = 5.2) and confidence were the median increased by 1 or 2, for all included sleep disorder groups. The current study indicates and supports that conducting a relatively short workshop will increase knowledge, self-efficacy and confidence on the topic of sleep, sleep disorders and different intervention.
