Sammendrag
This goal of this thesis was to identify republicanism after the fall of the republic itself. The concept of «republicanism» was distanced from the form of government itself, and rather defined as certain values connected to republican customs. The paper was divided into three seperate parts. First, it explored the approach by the emperor to republicanism. Second, the relations between the senatorial class and republicanism. Finally, it explored the possible attitudes by the people towards republicanism. In conclusion, the thesis found republicanism to be alive and well in the minds and discourse of the people at the time.
