Abstract
Τhe interjection Ἡράκλεις alludes to the fable of Heracles and the daughters of Thespius (Paus. 9.26.6–7, etc.). In 9.11, ἀλλὰ γὰρ Ὅμηρος μὲν ἐνθάδε οὔριος does not introduce a new subject but marks a contrast to the preceding (Denniston GP 377): “..even if Zeus should oppose him. But /Homer/ is favourable here...”.
