Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to describe various treatments for adolescents with concurrent traumatic experiences and substance use disorder. Adolescent with this comorbidity will be in need of treatment tailored to their developmental premises. Characteristics of the group and different treatment approaches are discussed. From presented theory and empirical evidence this paper assumes that an integrated approach to treatment would be more effective compared to separate treatment of the two disorders. Based on available research about treatment effects in general and the complex needs of this group, integrated and separate treatment models will be discussed. Various recurrent factors in both approaches that may be effective in the treatment of youth with this type of comorbidity will be focused on. Therapeutic implications are discussed in conclusion.
