Abstract
Three idealized ocean model versions are developed for the Bergen Dynamic Model (Bedymo). All three model versions fall into the category of slab ocean models. One version is more or less a standard slab ocean model, while the two other versions include two slightly different representations of oceanic heat transport. The model versions are tested through a series of idealized experiments where the model result is compared to analytical solutions. Some simple sensitivity tests are performed, to become familiar with how configurable parame- ters alter the model output. The model versions are also tested in coupled runs with a one layer atmosphere. The test results are satisfactory, and Bedymo is thus applicable for a whole new range of experiments.
