En systemforståelse av helende relasjoner

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to explore if a conceptualization of the therapeutic relationship as a system can enlighten our understanding of mechanisms of change in psychotherapy. The works of Daniel Siegel are presented to conceptualize brain, mind and relations as part of a holistic system and to explore integration as a vital process of people's movement towards psychological health and wellbeing. Subsequently the paper aims to explore how psychotherapists facilitate positive development in the patient. This will be illustrated by a system conceptualization of the therapeutic relationship. The works of Wilfred Bion will be presented to illustrate the relational factors underlying the patient´s development. Bion's explanation of relational factors will be illustrated by Siegel's description of brain, mind and relationships as parts of a holistic system.

Denne oppgaven sikter seg inn på å utforske hvordan en konseptualisering av den terapeutiske relasjonen som et system, kan belyse vår forståelse for endringsmekanismer i psykoterapi. Daniel Siegels arbeid vil presenteres for å beskrive hjernen, sinnet og relasjoner som deler av et hele og hvordan integrering i dette systemet kan sees som en viktig del av menneskers bevegelse mot psykisk helse og velvære. Deretter vil oppgaven sikte seg inn på å utforske hvordan psykoterapeuter kan tilrettelegge for positiv utvikling hos pasienten. Dette vil illustreres gjennom en systemforståelse av den terapeutiske relasjonen. Wilfred Bions arbeid vil presenteres for å illustrere de relasjonelle faktorene som underligger utviklingen hos pasienten. Bions redegjørelse av relasjonelle faktorer vil belyses ved Siegels beskrivelse av hjerne, sinn og relasjon som deler at et helhetlig system.
