Bergensregionen som arbeidsmarked for innvandrere. En studie av arbeidsintegrering blant russisktalende innvandrere i Bergensregionen

Abstract

In recent years, Norway has experienced a historical high influx of immigrants. Statistics show that individuals with immigrant backgrounds have a lower participatient rate in the labor market, and experience a higher risk of being unemployed compared to the ethnic Norwegian population. The government's most important integration policy goal is to ensure that everyone living in Norway should take part in the society. Therefore participation in everyday occupations is seen as a vital part for the inclusion/integration of immigrants in the Norwegian society. The immigrants work situation is viewed from a regional perspective in the thesis, and addresses opportunities in the labor market in the Bergen region. 15 Russian-speaking informants from Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic States have participated in the project and have elaborated about their experiences with work integration. The study is based on qualitative interviews where the informants outline the barriers and challenges they face, while entering the Norwegian labor market.
