Abstract
This thesis discusses, with a feminist perspective, Gurinder Chadha's film Bride and Prejudice. Using Jane Austen's novel to show womens' situation twohundred years ago in comparison to Indian womens' situation today. It shows how Chadha tries to open up a new discussion about women's rights for Indian women in a mixed cultural world.
