Indicators as tool for managing a library
Abstract
In a situation where libraries, as well as other organizations, are under close scrutiny from patrons and funding agencies, the library manager needs some tools for assessing the performance of the library, both as itself and bench–marked with others. Also, library leaders have to find some ways of gaining systematic information about the activities in their libraries. In this session we are looking at the practical use on performance indicators. We will be looking at the use of Norwegian national performance indicators for academic libraries through the four largest University libraries, through the libraries serving the humanities and social science faculties.
