This thesis presents research involving design in the light of minimalism as well as an evaluation of a high-fidelity prototype for the application Ombord. Ombord is designed for NRK, with the desired goal of engaging slow-TV viewers and reaching a larger audience. A user-centered design approach was used to facilitate an optimal user experience and to highlight the end user. The application Ombord was made for NRK's large slow-TV project in the summer of 2021, "Sommerskuta". The main features of the prototype are a map showing the position of Statsraad Lehmkuhl in real time and various collection objects that serve as a learning aspect. Activities in the application were developed to give the user visual feedback as a reward for their activity. This was presented in a separate page with associated statistics. The application should desirably engage the user and make them learn about Norway and end up as a "KystKjenner". The overall goal of the application was to get users involved in the broadcasts, as well as generate new knowledge about how slow-TV can engage on a deeper level. In developing the application, we have used research methods such as interviews, surveys, concept testing and usability testing. The results of the research indicate that Onboard has the potential to become a fun and engaging application. Based on the fact that the application motivates users with good user experiences, on a well-thought-out design that draws inspiration from minimalism.
