Building climate resilience in deltas amid uncertainty and surprise

Abstract

Delta management has been quite successful at reducing historical risks. However, climate change and the myriad of other challenges that deltas face involve many uncertainties and unknowns, leading to potential surprises that are currently rarely addressed. I examine how such surprises might arise and how delta communities can build resilience in the face of them.
