Abstract
A comparative study of master thesis tutoring at two departments at the University of Bergen, Norway, i.e. Department of Administration and Organization Theory (Faculty of Social Sciences) and Department of Physics and Technology (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) is presented. The objective of the work has been to obtain knowledge of the conformity of tutoring carried out at the two university departments, which has a very different object and approach of study. The presented work can be categorized as a comparative case study, where the data is acquired using qualitative interviews. A selection of academic personnel and a group of students from each department was chosen as interview objects. Based on the results from the interviews a set of initiatives are proposed for each of the departments in order to improve the quality of their master degree programs.
