Examining the development process of a semantic hub in an enterprise environment

Abstract

In the resent years there has been developed a couple of semantic hubs in the Norwegian oil and gas industry, and now EPIM is in the process of developing a semantic hub called the LogisticHub. It will be a track and trace system for cargo and containers in the offshore supply chain, utilising Semantic Web technology to share and communicate between the different organisations. The semantic hub as an information system is considered to be a new type of information system, that could benefit from a closer look at its development process. In this thesis I will look at the development process of the LogisticHub, in an attempt to discover the differences in developing a semantic hub compared to the development of other information systems.
