The metamorphosis of the russian opposition parties from 1993 to nowadays
Abstract
This thesis is investigating the changes in the role of the political opposition in Russia since 1993. The main aim of this research is to determine how Russian political system is influencing the role of the political opposition in Russia. This study is a qualitative case study. Four parties are part of the analysis: CPRF, LDPR, Fair Russia and United Russia. The empirical analysis is based on the testing of five hypotheses. The three main variables are: the changes within the electoral law since 1993, the positioning of the parties on the left-right ideological dimension and the representation of the policy issues within the political manifestos.
